Preschool Director
I have been with Calvin Preschool since 2000, I have served in many areas of the classroom and school but my proudest is being Director, I absolutely love my job and have passion for these kids and the school. Working daily with the staff, students and families to make Calvin the greatest Preschool in our community is something I do not take for granted. One of my favorite things to do within Calvin is to cook for all these kids, I love getting them to try new things and see the excitement when they discover that they like something that they ordinarily wouldn't have tried. Most use their eyes to determine they don't like something!

Outside of the preschool, I love spending time with family, cooking large meals (I love getting requests from family), reading, gardening and shopping. My husband and I are very content with spending time at home with our dogs but we do travel occasionally, we enjoy sporting events and just going to see a good movie.

Our staff has the educational background and/or years of experience in Early Childhood Education, which will provide your child with a quality learning environment. When each staff member is hired, they are required to have a State Criminal Background Check along with a Virginia State Background with fingerprints.

Cheryl Tubbs
I have been blessed to teach at Calvin Preschool for 20 wonderful years! One of my greatest joys as a teacher is watching children develop a love for learning. I absolutely love the enthusiasm and excitement they bring into my classroom each day. My hope is that every child who walks out of my classroom leaves feeling loved, confident, and inspires to be their very best self!

I especially enjoy bringing learning to life through fun, hands-on science experiments that connect with our classroom themes. My favorite children's book to share is Mix It Up!

Outside the classroom, I love reading, decorating my home, and spending time with my precious family. I'm also a proud pet lover with five dogs and three cats, and I have a special place in my heart for my Dachshunds and Sheltie!

I love everything about fall- the beautiful colors, pumpkins, cozy weather to watch Star Wars, and, of course, Ohio State football!

Nina Dominisac
Hi! My name is Ms. Nina, and I am the Preschool PE teacher at Calvin! I have been apart of Calvin for over 10 years, an I love being able to help children learn, grow and develop a love for staying active. I enjoy creating fun and engaging- activities that encourage little ones to move, play, and build confidence.

Outside of school, I love spending time outdoors, whether that means soaking up the sun at the beach, camping, or making memories with my family. I look forward to bringing lots of energy, fun and smiles to your little learners each day!

Clementine Sutton
I have been working here at Calvin for 5 years and I absolutely love having the privilege to build relationships with these sweet boys and girls! My biggest goal in the classroom is that my students go home everyday a little bit smarter and stronger but most importantly kinder and wiser!

I believe that making sure each and every child know how loves and valued they are is the first step to being a good teacher!

When I am not in school I enjoy reading and playing with my pets! Its my favorite thing- taking care of my bearded dragon and take my dog for long walks! My favorite children's books are Chrysanthemum and Junie B. Jones! I love to make learning fun and engaging- basing our lesson around our favorite snacks are always a blast!

Pre-School 2's
Cindy Hill
With 10 years at Calvin Preschool, what I love most is the welcoming smiles of my students, their willingness to try and make you feel like you are the greatest, and the joy of watching them grow. My favorite classroom activities include singing songs that build fine motor skills and logical thinking- especially when children light up with excitement.
My favorite book is Love You Forever, Love You Always. Outside the classroom, I enjoy watching my grandchildren play sports, reading, going to the movies, gardening, and spending time with family.
Pre-School 3's
Alyssa Scott
I have been a teacher at Calvin Preschool for 8 years, and it has been such an awesome experience being part of this special school community! I earned my bachelor's in Justice and Law Administration from Western Connecticut State University.

I am the proud mom of two daughters, ages 10 and 13, who both attended Calvin Preschool. These days, much of my time outside of the classroom is spent cheering them on at their activities. One is a ballroom dances, and the other plays softball. I've been married to my husband for 10 years- who has built his career cleaning our drinking water!
​
One of my favorite things about teaching preschool is watching children discover the magic of learning, experience the excitement of the holidays, and realize they can accomplish new things all on their own. Seeing their confidence grow and their faces light up makes teaching so rewarding. I also love incorporating sensory bins and arts and crafts into our classroom!

A fun fact about me is I LOVE going to concerts and have been to over 100! When I have some downtime, you can usually find me enjoying live music or spending time with my family.

Teresa Whitten
For twenty-four wonderful years, Calvin Preschool has been a second home. There is nothing quite like the magic of walking into a classroom every morning and being greeted by a room full of bright, eager smiles. Truly loving children and watching them learn, play, and discover the world is an incredible privilege, and being a preschool teacher brings and immense amount of fulfillment every single day.

Outside of the classroom, family remains the absolute center of life. Cherishing every moment spent together, nothing compares to the joy of being a grandparent. Whether sitting on the sidelines cheering loudly at a fast-paced soccer match or watching every exciting inning at a softball game, being their biggest fan is a role that brings endless pride and happiness.
Pre-School 4's
Melanie Brennell
Hi, families! I have been part of Calvin Preschool family for 11 years. My favorite part of working with children is watching them learn, grow, and discover new things every day. I love seeing their personalities shine, celebrating their accomplishments, and being part of all their little moments that make early childhood so special. I hope every child leaves feeling loved, confident, and excited to learn.

I am married and a proud mom of two boys, and our family also includes two chocolate labs and a kitten! Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family and making special memories together. I like relaxing by the pool and watching movies. In the classroom, I love incorporating hands-on activities, fun games, and crafts that encourage children to use their imaginations, and have fun while learning.

One of my favorite children's books is The Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfisher. I love sharing its message about friendship, kindness, and sharing, which are important lessons for young children as they learn to build relationships and care for others.

I believe the little things we do every day, such as sharing a smile, offering encouragement, and helping a child feel included, can make a big difference.

Pre-Kindergarten
Theresa Halvorsen
Current older 4's teacher and Chapel Leader, I have been teaching at Calvin for 28 years. My journey with Calvin began many years earlier with being a classroom volunteer, to substitute teaching to full-time Pre-K Teacher.

I enjoy teaching very much, getting to watch the children's eyes lite up with a mastered skill and having a new interest sparked that they will carry on their learning journey. I strive to prepare the children to be confident in their successful kindergarten year.
​
I encourage the children to use and explore with their imaginations with my favorite book series "I Know an Old Lady who Swallowed a..." I believe a fun learning experience lasts a lifetime. I know each child has their own learning style and pace, its not a one size fits all process and often the children will hear from me "There's no crying, only trying."
​
When I am not teaching I enjoy being with family making new adventures. The beach, gardening and working on 1000+ piece puzzles are a few of my pleasures in life, as well as being very active in my church through several ministries along with singing on the Praise and Worship team.

Kindergarten
Christine Love
With five years at Calvin Preschool, I love finding fun and creative ways to make learning exciting and meaningful for my students. With a bachelors in Theater Arts, and a Masters in Elementary Education I love finding ways to bring exciting and creative lessons in that students grow a love of learning! One of my favorite parts of teaching is getting to building meaningful relationships with my students and make special memories together that they will carry with them long after they leave my classroom.
​
My student learn many things when they are with me- alongside their academics they are learning how to think critically, how to solve a problem, independence, empathy- how to help a friend and show we care. We are celebrating every accomplishment and cheering on the tries. My students hear a lot in my room that "Practiced makes practiced!" and leave school knowing that learning means making mistakes but we still need to try our best!
Outside of work I spend my time with family- reading and getting to share some of my favorite stories like Peter Pan and The Velveteen Rabbit with my son. I enjoy getting creative, writing stories and debating movies, books. and everything else with my husband.
Assistant Teachers
All staff are required to complete CPR, First Aid & AED training through the American Heart Association. The preschool is also in compliance with the MAT (Medication Administration Training) guidelines.

Lillie Deguzman
The kids call me, Ms. Bree at school and I have been employed with Calvin Preschool since I was 16 years old. I am a teacher assistant in many different areas but mostly the P.E. class. I love my job and all the students and I enjoy helping them learn.

Outside of school I love going to sporting events and my favorite football team is the Cowboys. Shopping, doing puzzles and Lego's are just a few of the things I like to do in my spare time.

Liberty Dominisac
I feel that my caring, patient and dedicated personality help lend to my joy of teaching and helping little minds grow. As a teaching assistant, I support the teacher in creating a safe, positive, and welcoming classroom environment. I help students with their daily activities, encourage their learning, and provide support when they need extra help.
I believe that every child is unique and learns in their own way. I enjoy being part of their development and helping them build confidence, independence, and social skills. My goal is to make a positive difference in every child's life while continuing my own learning and growth as an educator.

Outside of school life I enjoy spending time with my adult children and grandchildren, especially on weekends when I cook meals and create special memories with my family. I also enjoy getting to relax with Netflix and spending peaceful days at the beach, enjoying the fresh air, ocean waves and beautiful scenery.

Tori Megia
One of my favorite parts of teaching is watching children's excitement when they learn something new. Those little "I did it!" moments where you can see it finally sticks are what make teaching special to me.
I strive to create a classroom where every child feels safe, loved and encouraged- where their excitement to learn helps them to grow in confidence and discover how special and capable they are.

Outside the classroom, family is everything to me! I've been married to my high school sweetheart for 33 years, and I'm a proud mom of four and grandmother of four. I love spending time with my family making precious memories together.
